Although the European Union has committed to promoting cycling in cities, the bicycle is still having trouble imposing itself in the European urban environment. Yet, cities with fewer cars mean better quality of life and less noise, pollution and accidents. Presenting the examples of Bucharest (Romania), Bolzano (Italy) and Bromley (UK), this video shows how projects funded by the EU’s Intelligent Energy - Europe programme help promote the bicycle as an alternative to polluting transport and to make cyclists’ lives easier.
